Frequently Asked Questions
CNC turning involves rotating the part while the cutting tool remains stationary, whereas in milling, the cutting tool rotates and the part is generally fixtured in place.
CNC milling is more flexible in the types of geometries it can make, but due to the high speed cutting and simple processing, CNC turning is very cost competitive for simple to relatively complex cylindrical parts.
Indeed, CNC turning is adept at handling complex geometries, especially when producing custom turned parts that demand precise detailing. Refer to the tables for further details.
CNC turning is not limited to simple cylindrical parts. Our advanced machines combine turning with milling capabilities, allowing us to craft complex geometries including notches, grooves, and drilled holes with high precision. This integration of multiple processes in one setup enhances both the complexity and efficiency of the parts we produce.
Whether it's CNC turning aluminum parts or those made of other sheet metal, a variety of industries - including automotive, aerospace, medical, electronics, industrial machinery, and consumer goods - benefit from CNC turning services.
Komacut specializes in producing a wide range of CNC turned parts, catering to industries like automotive and aerospace. Our expertise in precision CNC turning ensures high-quality components for various applications.
Komacut distinguishes itself with its modern facilities, comprehensive technical support, and commitment to confidentiality. Our 110,000 square feet of production space is continually upgraded to deliver professional service. Additionally, our engineering team provides intensive design reviews and detailed DFM feedback. We ensure complete confidentiality of part designs, managing the entire process in-house, from 3D upload to shipment.
CNC lathe machining and CNC turning are often used interchangeably, but they can have slight differences. CNC turning generally refers to a process where the workpiece rotates while the cutting tool moves in a linear path, mainly for external shaping of parts. CNC lathe machining, on the other hand, can encompass both turning and other operations, including internal machining. Essentially, while all turning can be done on a lathe, not all lathe machining is turning, as lathes can perform additional types of cuts.
